Devon Webb was born in Jasper, Alabama and has fond memories of his elementary and middle school years. Unfortunately, after the loss of his grandmother when he was only twelve years old, his mother began to party and use drugs to cope with her loss. Devon began selling drugs in order to provide for himself and for his little brother. Despite his circumstances, he continued attending school and playing basketball at Dora High School before transferring to Walker High School. After being required to attend alternative school, Devon decided to quit school altogether. When Devon was 21 years old, he and his father got into a very intense, almost-violent argument. His father unexpectedly passed away the next day, and his stepmother blamed Devon for his father’s death.

Downward Spiraling Leads to Drugs and Prison

At this point, Devon lost all hope and began using drugs. He found himself in and out of county jail with numerous charges, leading to a two-year prison sentence. While in prison, his other grandmother passed away, and Devon began using drugs while incarcerated. After his release, he began to sell drugs again but was arrested in less than thirty days. This led him to The Foundry Farm.

A New Firm Foundation Through HIM

Devon credits the HIM classes combined and its solid foundation of Christ-based principles for helping him get one step closer to realizing his GED goal. With the skills he learned in the HIM program and a newly-refreshed relationship with the Lord, Devon is confident he will be able to reach his goals. Most recently, Devon received an acceptance letter to Lawson State Community College and will begin classes in January 2024. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue his dream of owning his own barbershop and establish a foundation for men like himself.
